Heat-treated grinding abrasive
Blue aluminium oxide is obtained by processing brown fused alumina at a high temperature of 1300–1350 °C; it takes its characteristic blue colour from this heat treatment.
It is used in high-grade grinding discs, heavy-duty grinding discs and ultra-thin cutting discs that work on tool steel, alloy steel, carbon steel and stainless steel.
