Glass beads are an inorganic material also known as “glass powder” or “glass fibre”. Essentially, it is a powder made up of glass particles suspended in air after molten glass is dispersed by spraying or another method.
Glass sand is generally used to take advantage of the properties of glass, such as high temperature resistance and chemical resistance. For this reason, it is found in many industrial applications. For example, glass fibre is used in the production of composite materials. Because these materials are light, durable and high in strength, they are widely used in the automotive, aerospace and construction sectors.
Glass sand can also be used in construction materials, insulation materials, ceramics, refractories, glass production and various filtration applications. It can also be used for artistic and decorative purposes, for example in making glassware or in glass painting techniques.
Glass sand can pose a potential hazard to human health. When suspended in air as fine particles, it can be inhaled and damage the lungs. It is therefore important to take safety measures when using glass sand, and suitable respiratory protective equipment may be required.
