What Is White Aluminium Oxide?

Anadolu Kumlama

White aluminium oxide (sometimes called white corundum) is a type of aluminium oxide mineral. Its chemical formula is Al₂O₃. Its white colour comes from the pure crystallisation of the aluminium oxide it contains, which reduces the effect of other minerals.

White aluminium oxide is obtained by calcining (heating) aluminium hydroxide or aluminium oxide minerals at high temperatures. Industrially, it is produced through various processes and ground to obtain different grain sizes. These grain sizes allow the material to be used in various applications.

White aluminium oxide is a hard, abrasive and durable material. Because of its high strength and abrasive properties, it is used in many industrial applications. It is especially common in metalworking, surface preparation, sandpaper, sanding discs, grinding wheels, cutting tools, porcelain production, ceramics and glass production.

White aluminium oxide withstands high temperatures and is an electrical insulator. It can also be used in catalysts, refractory materials and fillers. In general, white aluminium oxide is considered an important material in many industrial applications because of its durability, hardness and abrasive properties.
